Does Onset Engine work on Mac or Windows?

Onset Engine supports both platforms

Windows: Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). NVIDIA GPU (GTX 1060+) recommended for best VFX performance. CPU-only works but VFX are slower.

macOS: Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) supported natively via MPS acceleration. Intel Macs work via CPU fallback.

Performance notes: On Apple Silicon Macs, VFX use MPS for GPU acceleration. On Windows, NVIDIA GPUs provide the best performance.

One change worth knowing since v1.0.12: beat detection is now a neural model (Beat This!) rather than the old librosa tracker, and it runs on CUDA where it can. So on a Windows machine with an NVIDIA card, beat analysis is GPU-accelerated. On Apple Silicon it runs on CPU - the model doesn't use MPS, unlike the VFX. It's a short one-off step either way (seconds per track, not minutes), so this isn't the thing that decides your platform, but the two are no longer equal on this specific step.

Licensing: Core tier covers 1 PC. If you need both a desktop and laptop, you'd need either two Core licenses or check if Studio covers multiple machines.

There's no Linux version currently.
